Getting started

Install the Windows preview

The Windows installer includes both the local companion engine and the Premiere Pro panel. You never need UXP Developer Tool.

This temporary preview is not Authenticode-signed. Windows reports Unknown publisher. Continue only with the exact file and SHA-256 fingerprint shown on Um Out's download page.

Before you start

  • Operating system: 64-bit Windows 10 or 11.
  • Premiere Pro: version 25.6 or newer, with a project and sequence open for the final test.
  • Disk space: roughly 2–4 GB for the engine and on-device speech model.
  • Preview status: the installer is unsigned. Its update metadata is independently signed and every downloaded update is checksum-verified before it runs.

Step 1: Download from Um Out

Open the download page and choose Download Windows preview. Do not use a mirror, forum post, search advertisement, or old direct link.

Step 2: Verify the exact file

Open PowerShell and run Get-FileHash "$HOME\Downloads\UmOut-Setup-current.exe" -Algorithm SHA256. Compare all 64 characters with the SHA-256 listed under the download button.

If the filename or fingerprint differs, delete the file and tell us. Do not open it.

Step 3: Open the unsigned preview

  1. Quit Premiere Pro completely.
  2. Open the checksum-matched installer. Microsoft Defender SmartScreen may say Windows protected your PC and identify the publisher as unknown.
  3. Select More info, confirm the app is the Um Out file you just verified, then select Run anyway.
  4. Complete the installer. It adds the companion, the Premiere panel, bundled FFmpeg, startup registration, and an uninstaller.

Step 4: Open Um Out in Premiere

  1. Reopen Premiere Pro.
  2. Open a project and sequence.
  3. Go to Window → UXP Plugins → Um Out. Um Out is not under Window → Extensions.

Step 5: First run and activation

The first time the panel opens, it runs a quick readiness check and confirms four things:

  • the companion engine is running and reachable;
  • your license or trial is active;
  • the on-device models are downloaded and ready;
  • a sequence is open so the tools have something to inspect.

Activation opens a sign-in page in your browser. Approve the code it shows you, return to Premiere, and the panel takes it from there. One licence covers two computers, and it stores a short signed lease so the tools keep working for up to seven days without a connection. Um Out never places its licence signing key inside the plugin.

Troubleshooting

Um Out is not in the Premiere menu

Fully quit Premiere, run the checksum-matched installer again, and restart Premiere. The preview installs the panel directly; it does not need UXP Developer Tool.

“Engine not found” in the panel

The panel cannot reach the companion. Confirm the companion is running from its diagnostics screen. If a firewall or security tool blocked its local connection, allow Um Out and reopen the panel.

Models are stuck downloading

Models are fetched on first run and can take a while on a slow connection. Leave the panel open; it resumes rather than starting over. If it stalls completely, restart the companion from its diagnostics screen and reopen the panel.

Activation will not complete

Your licence covers two machines and works offline for up to seven days between checks. Never send an API key, password, full transcript, or project file through chat or email. For anything else, use the support chat or contact Um Out.

macOS

No macOS customer package is published yet. Do not substitute an unsigned .pkg or a loose .ccx from another source.
