An AI editing assistant that can see your timeline

Um Bot receives a compact text summary of the open project and sequence: project and sequence names, clip names and timings, a timestamped transcript when one has already been produced, and findings from the latest Um Out pass. It answers about that context, so suggestions can point at timecodes instead of generic editing principles.

The model does not receive media files or local media paths. If the answer is not in the context it can see, it should say so rather than invent a clip, line, or timecode.

Um Bot can start every tool in the panel: silences, filler words, bad takes, captions, punch-ins, smart zooms, chapters, stream highlights, short clips and Clip That, and it can add a styled title. Every requested action is validated against that fixed catalog and checked against the active plan before Um Out runs it, and each one comes back as a review list rather than an edited timeline.

Color grading, music selection, reframing, bin management, and arbitrary Premiere commands are discussion-only today. Asking for one does not change the project.

On Um Out Plus, Hosted is selected by default and runs through Um Out’s AI gateway with no provider key to manage and no separate provider bill. Plus includes 10 hours of AI analysis a month, and the local editing tools stay unlimited and unmetered whatever you do with that allowance.

On Um Out Local or Plus, you can instead use your own OpenAI, Anthropic, or Google Gemini key. The companion stores it in the operating system credential vault, and your provider account handles the request and billing. That path costs you nothing extra beyond what the provider charges.

Chats are stored locally in the panel as project-scoped history. The chat drawer shows the open sequence first and keeps other sequences from the same project below it; conversations from another project are not listed.

A saved chat from another sequence is read-only until that sequence is open, so a reply cannot use or edit the wrong timeline. You can start a new chat, clear one, or delete it without erasing the rest of the project history.
